Born in the Bronx, NY, & raised in Cocoa Beach, Florida, Peter began his training as a competitive gymnast, later nurturing his artistry at Dussich Dance Studio. Upon graduation from The Juilliard School, he performed with BJM Danse, EZdanza, Aszure Barton & Artists, Kidd Pivot, & in Celine Dion’s Vegas spectacular, A New Day. Peter can be seen as the lead in Christina Perri’s Jar of Hearts music video.
In 2008, Peter formed a Las Vegas project based dance company, chuthis., which showcases the work of Chu & his collaborators. chuthis. also provides movement education programs which foster technical & artistic development.
Chu has been an honoured recipient of choreographic awards & commissions, including the Hector Zaraspe Prize, A.C.E. Capezio Award, & Hubbard Street Dance International Commission Project. He was also named a Blodgett Distinguished Artist by Harvard University for 2018. Additionally, Chu has served as the Rehearsal Director for Nederlands Dans Theater 2, and as a Guest Rehearsal Director for NDT1.
Chu has created works for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Charlotte Ballet II, Orlando Ballet Theatre, Hubbard Street 2, Giordano Dance Chicago, SYTYCD, Naomi Stikeman’s Çaturn, Houston MET Dance, New Dialect, SALT Contemporary Dance, Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive, Springboard Danse Montreal, Harvard Univeristy, Point Park University, & The Juilliard School, among others. Most recently, he premiered a creation for Staatstheater Augsburg, Germany, entitled yourFACE.
This season Chu has premiered new creations for The Juilliard School, Charlotte Ballet, and HSPro. He also continues performing and creating with his own company, chuthis.
Jenni Gordon, a freelance artist and movement educator, received a BFA in Dance, Magna Cum Laude, from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College. During her time at Purchase, she also studied at London Contemporary Dance School, where she performed the work of Merce Cunningham. A Houston native, Jenni graduated from the High School for the Performing & Visual Arts and trained at Rowland School of Ballet in Kingwood, Texas. Jenni has performed works by Peter Chu, Frances Chiaverini, Danielle Desnoyers, Lane Gifford, Kazuko Hirabayashi, Ginnette Laurin, Tom Weinberger, and Twyla Tharp.
Jenni is honored to have been a member of chuthis. from the beginning. She also serves as an assistant to Peter Chu on many of his teaching and choreographic endeavors, including Seasons 9 & 10 of So You Think You Can Dance. Most recently, Jenni has staged Peter’s work on SALT Contemporary Dance Company, Booker T. Washington HSPVA, Charlotte Ballet’s Pre-Professional Program, and The Grier School, among others. Jenni has also acted as rehearsal director for many of Peter’s recent creations, including works for Charlotte Ballet II, New Dialect, and Brigham Young University. Teaching highlights include SpringboardX | shift perspective, Brigham Young University, & MIP2. Jenni recently relocated to Austin, TX with her family.
Krystal is a freelance movement artist born and raised in Southern California. She graduated Cum Laude from UC Irvine with a BFA in Dance Performance and minor in Digital Arts. During her college career she worked closely with Donald McKayle and his Etude Ensemble, with then choreographer-in-residence Douglas Becker, and Glorya Kaufman School of Dance Vice Dean, Jodie Gates. Post graduation, she worked with companies such as Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Entity Contemporary Dance, and BARE Dance Company. She has also worked commercially in LA and NY under the representation of MSA Agency, where she has worked with choreographers Daniel Ezralow, Mia Michaels, Michael Cothren Peña, and Shanda Sawyer.
As a movement instructor, Krystal has taught ballet, contemporary, and improvisation at various studios in the Southern California, most recently on faculty at Cutting Edge Dance Center and Dmitri Kulev Classical Ballet Academy. She has also taught workshops at Taipei American School in Taiwan, as well as in Costa Rica for chuthis.’s Movement Intensive. Within her teaching, she strives to cultivate a collaborative learning space that allows the individual to feel safe in exploring the physical, mental, and emotional capacities of one’s self. Currently she is pursuing her MFA in Dance at University of California Irvine, and is a proud member of chuthis.
Miriam was born and raised in Fresno, California. She grew up training at The Dance Studio of Fresno where she received a diverse dance education. In May of 2017 Miriam graduated from The Juiliiard School with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance. She furthered her training during summer intensives at chuthis. Bodytraffic, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Springboard Danse Montreal, and Nederlands Dans Theater. Miriam was involved in many outreach programs and fellowships which allowed her to share her love for dance with audiences and students across New York City.
In the year following her graduation, Miriam joined chuthis. for performances and residencies in Costa Rica, Las Vegas, Steamboat Springs, and Holland. She is grateful and excited to be a part of the chuthis. family! Miriam is currently working in Vancouver with Ballet BC as an emerging artist for their 2018-2019 season.
Martha "is an artist who believes dance is an experience. Physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual; it should be felt on all planes. She was one of America’s Top Ten on SYTYCD (Season 2), and has assisted Mandy Moore, Christopher Wheeldon, Mia Michaels, NAPPYTABS, and more. Martha has been featured in Dance Spirit Magazine, Dance Lifestyle Magazine, Dance Magazine as one of 2017’s “Top 25 to Watch”, and on the cover of Dance Teacher Magazine.
Martha has performed on shows such as MTV'S VMA’s, The American Music Awards, The Oscars, and The Billboard Awards. Other credits include Madonna, Rihanna, Kylie Minogue, Cirque Du Soleil, GAP, Disney, Dancing With the Stars, Jesse J, Ne-Yo, Christina Aguilera, Neil Patrick Harris and more. Martha can be seen in films ‘The Marc Pease Experience’, ‘La La Land’, ‘Ted 2’, ‘Dirty Dancing’ (2016) and is featured in ‘The Greatest Showman’ as the “Woman in Gold”. Martha is currently a principal soloist with The Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center in New York.
Martha won The Capezio A.C.E. Awards with her piece ‘/ T I L T E D /‘ (2016), was Artistic Director/Choreographer of ’The Wider Sun’ (2017), and premiered “How We Left” (2018) in Salt Lake City, UT. Other choreographic credits include, Good Morning America, Madonna’s ‘Rebel Heart’ Tour, Moses Sumney’s ‘Worth It’ Video, Demi Lovato’s ‘Unbroken Tour’, ‘The Cher Show’ Broadway, Ke$ha’s 2018 Grammy performance of “Praying” and more. Martha is currently Associate Choreographer of “Don't Stop Til You Get Enough” on Broadway.
In addition to this, Martha is an educator and loves teaching. She teaches master classes all over the world and is currently on faculty at Broadway Dance Center (NYC) and tours with NUVO dance convention.
